Texts and Supplies

All equipment, including yoga mats and props, will be supplied by the school. Students are welcome to bring their own mat if preferred. Each student will receive an organic cotton t-shirt and the following texts:

  • VSBM Yoga Teacher Training manual, compiled by Dan Clement
  • Light on Yoga, by B.K.S. Iyengar
  • Scientific Keys - The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga, vol. One, by Ray Long

Paul Grilley's book review of Dan's Yoga Teacher Training Manual.

Daniel has written this book to be a guide to a 200-hour teacher program and I think he does his audience a service. I especially like the section on teaching methodology. It includes suggestions on speaking, demonstrating, sequencing and the role of a teacher. My other favourite section is a discussion of Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics that a new teacher must consider but without a guidebook like this one might not think to do so.
